PREMIERE SCREENINGS OF GANYMEDE – 2/20 8PM AND 10PM

SPECTACLE THEATER – 124 South 3rd Street, Brooklyn, NY

“GANYMEDE is an experimental film set on the solar system’s largest moon. On Ganymede, it is thought that volcanic vents supply the necessary power to fuel life. This film imagines unknown extra-terrestrial life forms engaged in ritualistic aquatic dance beneath a sky of ice. The resulting way of life is depicted as fluctuating pulses of energy abstracted beyond conventional consciousness.

Using a battery of synthesizers and repeating patterns, JONAS REINHARDT delves into the chaotic unknown seeking transcendence and achieving a spiritual ‘other’ defined by ecstatic reverie.”

The crew of Brooklyn-based filmmakers for this expedition include Antonia Kuo, Josh Lewis, Kenneth Zoran Curwood, Shona Masarin, Ben Mosca, Lily Jue Sheng.

JONAS REINHARDT is also celebrating the publication of GANYMEDE as a vinyl record and DVD set from Constellation Tatsu.

Monkey Town, the first experimental, completely immersive film and food experience, returns to NYC at Eyebeam (540 W 21st St) this summer, June 13 – August 11, for a two month nightly pop up before launching a national tour.

The beloved Monkey Town, which lived for 7 years in Williamsburg until 2010, will once again pair visually captivating film and videos with top chefs creating meals and pairings to compliment the program. The event recreates its original and still unprecedented cinema-in-the-round by forming a floating cube from 4 massive projection screens and 8.1 surround sound. The new rendition will feature a single curated film and video program that replays every night for 60 days, featuring almost all multi-channel works by 21 extraordinary artists and filmmakers.
